Panama papers case: ED may summon Amitabh Bachchan

Investigation is being carried out by the Mumbai team of ED in the Panama Paper case and the names of many celebrities were found connected to the case.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is seen hosting the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 9, is likely to be summoned by megastar the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Panama Papers case. Earlier, Bachchan family was asked to submit the documents. The name of the legendary actor cropped in the, which is being probed by the Income Tax Department.

Officials have revealed that few time back notices were issued to Bachchan family asking them to clarify their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the RBI. They added that the replies from the stars have received and they could be summoned soon.

According to Panamanian law firm records, the actor served as director of four offshore shipping companies between 1993 and 1997.

After his name was involved in Panama Papers, the legendary actor denied any wrongdoing and any connection with the firms named in the Panama Papers.
