New Delhi: Maharashtra is hit by drought, something which should and is troubling the entire Indian population. The condition has become so bad that many farmers find committing suicide easier than waiting for days to get better. The worst affected area is the district of Marathwada, where on an average, eight farmers end their lives.

At the time of crisis, Maharashtra’s most known industry, Bollywood has stepped up for helping the farmers. We all know how actors Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan are doing their bit towards the betterment of the farmers.

Now, National film Award winner Neeraj Ghaywan, has promised to donate money from his prize money. Neeraj won a prize money of Rs 1.25 lakhs for his movie ‘Masaan’. Neeraj announced this on twitter and added that lyricist, screenwriter and comedian Varun Grover will donate 50K too, totalling the amount to Rs 1 lakh.

Out of the 1.25 Lakh prize money, I will donate 50,000. Together, me and @varungrover will donate 1 Lakh rupees.

Am donating all of it (INR 50k) & combined with @ghaywan's it'll be INR 1L. We'll find a credible channel so that it reaches the most needy.

This initiative by them gained support from many celebrities. Soon, singer Sona Mahapatra tweeted that she and her husband Ram Sampath will be donating Rs 1 lakh each. Actor and IPL host Gaurav Kapur too joined the list and so did the comedy group AIB.

@varungrover @ghaywan be honoured if we could add 1 lac each from Ram & my side. Do share the best route.
