In a setback to the Congress, BSP supremo Mayawati on Thursday announced that her party will contest the upcoming state elections in Chhattisgarh in alliance with former chief minister Ajit Jogi’s Janta Congress.
Mayawati told media persons that if the BSP-Janta Congress alliance wins the Assembly elections, Ajit Jogi will be the chief minister.
Giving details of the seat-sharing agreement, Mayawati said that the BSP will contest 35 seats while Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress will put up candidates on 55 seats.
“Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to contest upcoming assembly polls in alliance with Janta Congress Chhattisgarh. BSP will fight on 35 seats and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh will contest on 55 seats. If we win, Ajit Jogi will be the CM,” Mayawati said.
Exuding confidence of dislodging Raman Singh government in the state, Janta Congress chief Ajit Jogi alleged that the BJP govt survived for so long by misusing power, money and administrative system.
