The Election Commission is likely to announce the dates for Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 on Wednesday i.e. October 25
According to sources, the EC is likely to hold a press conference at 12pm tomorrow to announce the dates for Gujarat polls.
The voting for Gujarat Assembly polls may be held in two phases in the month of December. The term of the current Gujarat Assembly expires on January 22, 2018.
The EC had come under severe criticism from the Congress-led opposition for not announcing the dates for Gujarat polls when it had declared the schedule for Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections on October 12.
The EC had only said that the voting for Gujarat Assembly elections would take place before December 18, the date of counting for Himachal polls. However, the EC did not specify the dates for Gujarat polls.
