New Delhi: Sperm banks in China have come up with an innovative new tactic to attract donors. They are offering the latest iPhone in exchange for sperm donations.
Well, not quite. These sperm banks are paying in cash. But they are helpfully noting that the cash is more than enough to cover the iPhone 6S, which is prominently displayed in their advertisements.
In a country that is crazy over Apple products, this is a rather ingenious plan to tempt potential donors. In the past, desperate Chinese have gone to the extent of selling their kidneys to lay their hands on iPhones and iPads.
One Chinese student even offered to rent out his girlfriend for an iPhone 6 although he added that 'no funny business' would be allowed.
But donating sperm would be a slightly simpler way of achieving the same goal. "No need to sell your kidneys - you can easily have a 6s," said the Renji Hospital in Shanghai in an online post.
According to the hospital, sperm donors can earn around $940 for a 40 millilitres donation, which easily covers the cost of a 16 GB iPhone 6S priced at $649.
But there is a catch. One session only produces around 4 millilitres. So donors have to make several visits before heading to the nearest Apple store.
