New Delhi: In a bizarre and rare sighting, a giant squid has been spotted in the Toyama Bay in central Japan.

The squid is estimated to grow as large as 13 meters (43 feet) long.

The squid was reportedly found swimming around the moorings for several hours and the video has been captured using a submersible camera.

"It was the first time that we saw such a giant squid here, where the water level is only about 2.5 to 3 meters in depth," said Marine Manager Mizuhashi Fisherina.

"My curiosity was bigger than my fear, so I jumped into the water to explore the huge squid," the diver said.
