Maruti puts brakes on SX4 production, makes way for upcoming Ciaz

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has officially ceased production of its SX4 sedan to make way for the new Ciaz.Brought in as the Baleno's replacement in 2007, the SX4 reported poor sales in the




Although it is a very practical car, the SX4 has not been able to set the sales charts on fire. In addition, the competiton from like the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna, added more pressure on its sales volumes.




The new Ciaz comes with an entirely new design as it features a trapezoidal grille with chrome accents, large bumper with wide air dams, fog-lamps and angular shaped projector head-lamps. The model looks aggresive and sporty wth the dual tailpipes, bumper integrated air scoops and tail-lights.




The Ciaz will be offered with both, petrol and diesel engine options, i.e. it will get the 1.4-litre K-series petrol and the 1.3-litre multijet diesel unit. The 1.4-litre petrol motor might also come mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox. The diesel model will house the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre multijet diesel unit that also powers the SX4.
