Lakshmi Mittal's son Aditya Mittal is the chief financial officer, (CFO) of the world's largest steel firm Arcelor Mittal. He also has the additional responsibility of Flat Carbon Europe, Investor Relations and Communications, and is a member of the Group Management Board. Prior to the merger to create ArcelorMittal, Aditya was President and CFO of Mittal Steel Company in the period spanning from October 2004 to 2006. He has been instrumental in leading the company's acquisition strategy, thus resulting in Mittal Steel's expansion into Central Europe, Africa and the United States. Besides he is also involved in post-integration, turnaround and improvement strategies of the group. Aditya was awarded ‘European Business Leader of the Future' by CNBC Europe. In 2011, he was also ranked 4th in the ‘40 under 40' list of Fortune magazine. Aditya holds a Bachelor's degree of Science in Economics with concentrations in Strategic Management and Corporate Finance from the Wharton School in Pennsylvania, United States.
