Google Maps gains Hindi support for desktop and Android versions

New Delhi: As part of its global effort to make its mapping service useful for users locally, Google has launched Google Maps in Hindi. Starting today, people will be able to see Hindi names for




To view Hindi name labels on Google Maps, people must enable Hindi as their preferred language on their device. From a desktop PC, change the language preference to Hindi on their Google account settings or by selecting the “Hindi” option at the bottom of the page on the google.co.in home page. On Android, users simply need to select the Hindi option within the “Language and input” menu found in their phone's ‘settings menu'.





Once you're done, you'll be able to see labels of cities, localities, important roads and other popular places all in your preferred language.





The launch of Google Maps in Hindi is yet another step by the search engine giant to localize its brand in India.
