The continued concern over the COVID-19 pandemic which implies that the competition would be held behind closed doors while also putting a doubt over the availability of overseas players, has urged the organisers to shift the tournament to next year.
Moeen stated the inaugural edition of the 100-ball tournament should be played when there are no problems around the world.

The 100-ball tournament, which the ECB expects can match the global popularity of the Indian Premier League and the Big Bash League, could add to the long list of tournaments being put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
