India's number one and the most followed Super Prime Time News Show ‘Aaj Ki Baat- Rajat Sharma Ke Saath' was launched just before the 2014 general elections.
Rawat, who is one of the tallest Congress leaders in Uttarakhand, served as the chief minister of the Himalayan state from 2014 to 2017. He is also a five-time Member of Parliament. After getting treatment at KVR Hospital, Kashipur, he was discharged from the hospital.
The disquiet in Uttarakhand Congress came out in the open during the polls when former CM and senior party leader Harish Rawat had expressed his displeasure at the elevation of Aqueel Ahmad.
Earlier today, Dhami welcomed President Ramnath Kovind at the Dehradun Raj Bhawan, alongside Uttarakhand Governor Gurmit Singh.
The Congress, which fought under the leadership of Rawat, won just 19 seats against BJP's 47 out of a total of 70 assembly seats, with political observers attributing the loss to factionalism in the opposition party besides other factors.
In the last Assembly elections too, Harish Rawat had lost both seats he had contested. The defeat in the elections has put a question mark on the five-time MP and former Union minister’s political future.
Harish Rawat, who is also Chairman of Uttarkhand Congress' Campaign Committee, claimed there is a good fight in around six constituencies of 70 seats in the state.
Congress leaders said the party is also keeping an eye on the political moves of its rivals. The party has so far released the list of 64 out of 70 candidates for the upcoming poll in Uttarakhand.
Harish Rawat, who is the party's campaign head in the state, had unsuccessfully contested the Haridwar-Rural and Kichcha assembly seats in the 2017 assembly polls.
Harak Singh Rawat was one of the ten MLAs who left the Congress in 2016 and joined BJP. With assembly polls in the state less than a month away, he wants to go back to Congress.
Aware of the increasing opposition to his re-entry into the Congress, Harak Singh Rawat met senior party leaders in Delhi today to make his case.
Discussions are on and a final decision will be taken after all details are considered, which means Harak Singh Rawat's re-entry into Congress might take time.
According to sources, Harak Singh Rawat is in touch with the Congress and talks are on to get him in along with two other BJP MLAs.
The election commission announced poll dates for Punjab. Voting will take place on February in one single phase. Punjab has a total of 117 assembly seats.
Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab will go to polls early in 2022. While the first four are ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the last one has a Congress government.
Days after making a veiled attack on the Congress leadership ahead of assembly polls in Uttarakhand, Rawat today said that sometimes expressing pain proves to be beneficial for the party.
Top Congress leaders on Thursday had also spoken to Harish Rawat and sought to mollify him after his public outburst against party leaders, sources said.
Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur are due early next year.
Commenting on Rawat's tweet where he had charged elements within the party with not co-operating with him and standing with their heads turned away, Godiyal said he has also been having similar feelings.
Harish Rawat on Wednesday created a flutter in the political circles, alleging non-cooperation from his organisation and noting that he sometimes feels it is time for him to rest.
