More than two crore voters of Gujarat will decide the fate of 851 candidates in second phase of Assembly elections today.
"No objection that Kapil Sibal is fighting on behalf of Muslim community but how can he say do not find a solution to Ayodhya issue until next election? How is it connected to Lok Sabha elections," the prime minister said.
"The Congress has been shouting for the last three months that 'Congress aave chhe' (Congress is coming in Gujarat), while today, the people of Uttar Pradesh said 'Congress jae chhe' (Congress is going)," he said.
Rajkot (West) election officer P R Jani, in his application to the Malaviya Nagar police station, said that despite the district authority denying permission, Hardik Patel addressed a rally in Rajkot on November 29, 2017.
Ravi Shankar Prasad also blasted the Congress and its vice president for seeking proof of surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army in PoK last year.
Paresh Rawal, who represents the Ahmedabad East seat in the Lok Sabha, however, later apologised for his alleged derogatory remark, saying his remark was not on the community.
Amit Shah was addressing a rally before Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani filed his nomination from the Bhavnagar (west) seat.
The development comes close on the heels of Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel’s claim that Sonia Gandhi will take a final call on the demands including reservation to the community.
