Poland, Jun 11: Spain is considering filing an official protest to UEFA over the state of the pitch at Gdansk's PGE Arena during the 1-1 draw with Italy in the European Championship.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque as well as players Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Cesc Fabregas all complained about the turf being too dry, which affected the defending champions' passing game.

Antonio Bustillo, head of communications at the Spanish football federation, told The Associated Press that a decision was expected later Monday.

Bustillo said Monday that neither Del Bosque nor any Spain players mentioned the pitch as being a problem following Saturday's training session on it.

Spain plays Ireland in Gdansk on Thursday in its second Group C match.
