Asian Games: In-form Jitu Rai leads India to team bronze in 10m Air Pistol

Incheon:  Indian shooters continued their dream run in the 17th Asian Games, winning the bronze medal in Men's 10m Air Pistol event with Jitu Rai, Samaresh Jung and Prakash Nanjappa firing in tandem on day 2 of the competitions on sunday.

     

This is Rai's second medal in the Games, coming a day after he clinched a gold in his pet event - 50-meter pistol at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range.
     
The team of Rai, Jung and Nanjappa notched up a total score of 1743. India finished on par with China (1743) but they shot one bullseye fewer - 64 to China's 65.
     
Republic of Korea's  Kim Cheongyong, Jin Jongoh and  Le Daemyung won the gold medal after aggregating 1744 while the Chinese team of Pang Wei, Pu Qifeng and Wang Zhiwei finished second on the podium.
     
Yesterday, new shooting sensation Rai stole the limelight by provided the first gold medal in the ongoing Games, while another shooter Shweta Chaudhry claimed a bronze as India launched its campaign on a rousing note with two medals on the opening day of competitions.
     
Shweta's bronze came in the 10m air pistol competition.
