Mumbai, Sep 15: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today gave a cheque of Rs one lakh to emerging hockey star Yuvraj Walmiki.
The 21-year-old forward met Pawar at the Mantralaya this morning.
Walmiki catapulted to fame when he smashed the penalty against Pakistan to give India a crucial 3-1 lead in the Asian Champions Trophy finals in China on Sunday.
The NCP leader also took cognisance of the disconnected electricity at Walmiki's residence and asked BEST General Manager Omprakash Gupta to immediately restore the supply.
The state government is also planning to allot Walmiki a flat in the city, sources said. PTI
