The Hague: The Indian hockey team lost 1-2 to the Netherlands in the last match of their preparatory tour to Europe here Saturday.




India started off well by scoring the first goal in only the second minute. Rupinder Pal Singh successfully converted a penalty corner to help India take a 1-0 lead. India looked charged up and did not let the Netherlands score to maintain the lead till half-time.

In the 46th minute, Micro Pruyser scored the first goal for the Netherlands through a penalty corner. The Europeans gained momentum and did not allow India to score in the second half.

India gave a tough fight but in the 67th minute, Tristan Alegra scored the second goal for the Netherlands, giving them the win.

This tour is in preparation for the World Cup to be held here from May 31 to June 15.

Result: India 1 (Rupinder Pal Singh) lost to Netherlands 2 (Micro Pruyser, Tristan Alegra).
