Secunderabad: Riding on Abhinav Mukund's superb century, Tamil Nadu got the better of Hyderabad by 47 runs in a South Zone match of the Vijay Hazare National ODI Championships here today.

Hyderabad's decision to bowl first after winning the toss did not pay dividends as Tamil Nadu posted 334 for six in their allotted 50 overs with Mukund coming up with a brilliant 142-ball 139.

R Sathish (79 not out) and Baba Aparajith (66) also made crucial contributions.

In reply, Hyderabad fell short in the end as they were bundled out for 287 in 47.2 overs, despite Tirumalasetti Suman scoring a quickfire 119-ball 136.

Praneeth Kumar was the only other prominent batsman for Hyderabad, hitting 68 off 51 balls.

Laxmipathy Balaji was the highest wicket-taker for Tamil Nadu, claiming three for 55, while M Mohammed (2/48) and V Yomahesh (2/61) chipped in with two wickets each.

Put in to bat, Tamil Nadu lost two wickets early with the scorecard reading 26 for two, but Mukund, whose brilliant knock was studded with 11 fours and two sixes, put on a solid 144 runs with Aparajith for the third wicket.

After Aparajith's dismissal, Mukund shared another important partnership of 118 runs with Sathish for the fifth wicket. Then the centurion was bowled by C V Milind Bhui, who was the pick of the Hyderabad bowlers with figures of three for 71 from his 10 overs.

Hyderabad's Suman and Praneeth tried their best to reach the massive target, by putting on 125 runs together for the fourth wicket, but none of the other batsmen could contribute enough runs, thereby falling short in the end.

Brief Scores:

Tamil Nadu: 334 for six in 50 overs (Abhinav Mukund 139, R Sathish 79 not out, Baba Aparajith 66; C V Milind 3/71).

Hyderabad: 287 all out in 47.2 overs (Tirumalasetti Suman 136, Praneeth Kumar 68; Laxmipathy Balaji 3/55).
