After an uninterrupted morning session, heavy showers lashed the ground, forcing the players to stay inside the pavilion after lunch.India were at 398/3 at lunch with Murali Vijay (144 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane (55 not out) at the crease.
Rain led to curtailment of play on Day 1 and washed out the second day's play as well.
