Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board said on Thursday it would not press any panic buttons following the whitewash in the one-day series in Bangladesh.

PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan in a statement said that while he was deeply disappointed by the team's performance but the board shall not press any panic buttons.

"We will wait for the tour's end before engaging in a thorough review of all factors," he said.

Pakistan's first ever one-day series defeat in Bangladesh has drawn a sharp reaction from the cricket community with former players and legislators calling for wholesale changes in the cricket board and team management.

Pakistan's former captain Rashid Latif advised head coach Waqar Younis to step down while opposition leader Khursheed Shah and other parliamentarians in the National Assembly demanded changes in the cricket board and described the defeats in Bangladesh as shameful.

Khan said that like all cricket fans in Pakistan he was deeply disappointed at the ODI whitewash in Bangladesh.

"We are playing a highly proficient Bangladesh team that has improved by leaps and bounds over the past few years. Yet such a display was unanticipated. But as Misbah has said earlier, this is a new and young team which will take time to gel together," the PCB chief said.

"Despite the losses, there have been some encouraging performances, notably by captain Azhar Ali, who has led by example, Mohammad Rizwan, Saad Nasim and Sami Aslam.

"We specially need to evaluate fitness and fielding issues and also the mental strength of our boys, which was found wanting," he admitted.

Khan said Pakistan remained high on the ICC's Test and Twenty20 rankings but needed to improve our ODI rating.

"I am sure given time this young team will show results," he said.

The PCB chief maintained a thorough evaluation would be carried out once the tour was over but said at the moment there were no plans to replace the coaching staff of the national team.
