Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Pakistan claimed two early wickets in its three before lunch to reduce New Zealand to 295-6 on the second day of the second test Tuesday.

Corey Anderson and overnight century-maker Tom Latham both played loose drives against the Pakistan seamers and departed in the first three overs before James Neesham chipped to short midwicket off legspinner Yasir Shah (2-70).

BJ Watling was unbeaten on 18 while Mark Craig, dropped on 9, moved to 13 as Pakistan allowed only 52 runs after New Zealand resumed at a healthy overnight 243-3.

Latham, who batted beautifully throughout the first day, couldn't add to his overnight 137 before Rahat Ali found the outside edge off a full pitched delivery.

Latham hit 11 fours and a six in his second successive century of the series.

Ehsan Adil (2-61) got the breakthrough off only his fourth delivery of the morning when Anderson played an uppish drive off a full-pitched delivery and was caught in the covers.

Neesham hit two straight boundaries off Adil on either side of the wicket in scoring 17, but struggled against the spin of Shah and Zulfiqar Babar on the slow turning wicket. He eventually spooned a catch to captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

Ali should have dismissed Craig just before lunch, but couldn't judge a high ball off a slog sweep and dropped a simple catch at mid-on.

Pakistan leads the three-match series with 248-run victory in the first test last week.
