Ashes hero and player of the series Mitchell Johnson is among 31 players who have attracted the highest base price of around $US320,000 for next month's Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

Johnson's Test teammates Brad Haddin and Steve Smith are also in the top bracket alongside England superstar Kevin Pietersen.

In all, 10 Australians are in the 31-man group including Brad Hodge, Mike Hussey, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc and Australian T20 skipper George Bailey.

First-timers include New Zealand's Corey Anderson who has a 36-ball one-day international hundred to his credit.  The  all-rounder Corey Anderson has reportedly put 195000 New Zealand dollars as his base price.

The player auction will be held in Bangalore on February 12 and 13.

Organisers have announced a 233-strong auction list of capped players which has been distributed to the eight franchises.

Some of the game's biggest names including Australian Test captain Michael Clarke, England paceman Stuart Broad and Sri Lankan batting great Kumar Sangakkara have not nominated for the IPL auction.

The non-participation of Broad and fellow quick Ben Stokes is understood to be part of England's bid to improve their Test performances following their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Australia this summer.

Pakistan-born Australian leggie Fawad Ahmed has also nominated alongside 43-year-old Perth Scorchers spinner Brad Hogg.
