Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar recently had an unpleasant experience in America where two cricketing nations India and West Indies faced each other in two T20 international matches.

Despite being a popular face in the cricketing world and commentator with the official broadcaster Star Sports, the ‘little master’ was denied entry into the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill by security officials during the second T20 clash.

According to reports, security officials failed to recognise Gavaskar and hence stopped him from entering the stadium.

The former skipper was, however, later allowed to enter the venue of the match after organisers intervened.

Tweeting about the incident, Peter Della Penna, one of the cricket fans, who witnessed the scene outside the stadium, said that the officials were not convinced even after the fans reminded them of who Gavaskar really is and said that ‘they don’t care who the hell he is’.

In another tweet Penna said that Gavaskar was cool about it and he passed the time taking selfies with fans.

India and West Indies played two T20I series in Florida last week. While West Indies clinched the first match by one run in a high-scoring thriller, the second match was called off due to rain.

The security standards in the US are very strict especially when it comes to public areas.
