New Delhi: The Union Cabinet today on the recommendations of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung dissolved the Delhi Assembly paving the way of re-election in the state.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussed the report of Jung on Delhi's political situation.

Jung earlier in the morning had sent the report to the President Pranab Mukherjee apprising him about the three political parties -- BJP, AAP and Congress -- decision not to stake claim to form government in the present circumstances.

The President accepted the recommendations of Jung and forwarded it to the Ministry of Home Affairs for further consideration. The Cabinet decision will now be sent to the President for final approval before being sent to the Election Commission of India.

The LG held consultations with the all three major political parties yesterday after the Supreme Court gave him time till November 11 to explore the possibility of forming a government.

The President rule was imposed in Delhi on February 19 following immediate resignation of the AAP government.

Speaking to reporters here, senior BJP leader Vijender Gupta said that the party will get majority in the polls.

"The morale of BJP workers in Punjab is very high. We will definitely get the majority. The people of county, people of Delhi have faith in Narendra Modi. He is directly in touch with the voters and ‘aam aadmi'. Congress and AAP are two sides of the same coin. We are ready for the poll," he said.
