Bhopal: Another senior BJP leader caught in controversy after an alleged audio tape of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has surfaced, yesterday.

In the audio conversation, Chouhan was heard asking BJP leader Rajendra Choudhary to support the party's candidate for Garoth Assembly by-poll in Mandsaur district. The CM is heard offering him a 'respectful' position in the government in exchange of the favour. Polling is the assembly is scheduled to be held on Saturday.

The ruling party is already in trouble after some of its prominent faces including External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Mude are in news for wrong reasons.

While Swaraj and Raje has allegedly helped controversial former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi, Mude is news for an alleged Rs 206 "Chkki Scam". On the other hand, Irani's education qualification is in question.

Opposition Congress is calling it a breach of model code of conduct during the election and demanding resignation of the CM.

Senior Congress leader and former CM of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, has demanded resignation of Chouhan and urged the Election Commission to take appropriate action against the head of the government.

He said, "Shivraj Singh Chouhan is offering a respectful position to one his party leader on phone. This is breach of Code of Conduct. The Chief Minister should resign. The Election Commission should also look into the matter and investigate it properly."
