New Delhi: The regrouped Janata Parivar, comprising six political parties, is today staging a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against the Narendra Modi government over various issues including repatriation of black money.

The six parties are Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), HD Deve Gowda-headed Janata Dal (Secular), Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav-led Janata Dal (United), Kamal Morarka's Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) and Om Prakash Chautala's Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

Addressing the crowd, former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completely failed to keep his promise on bringing back black money.

“Prime Minister had campaigned across nation saying he will bring back black money. what happened to the promises he made?” he said.

He also said that the NDA government at the Centre is now making attempts to ‘diverting the attention of people' from core issues related to common people.

“They are spending money on religious conversions. They had made false promises during poll campaign,” Kumar said.

Lalu, who spoke after Nitish at the ‘Mahadharna', questioned the claims of ‘achhe din' saying, “You promised good days, employment, what happened to those promises you made? Why did you make false promises on black money issue to the people of this nation?”

“Modi government is trying to divide the nation on religion. The minorities have also fought for India's independence and the Modi government is now involved in ghar vapsi,” the RJD chief said in an apparent reference to the contentious issue of conversion.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav accused the BJP of speaking lie to the people and cheating the nation.

“They want to spread riots. The Agra incident was the beginning, They are trying to repeat such incidents across the country,” he said.

The Janata Parivar is protesting against the BJP-led NDA government's alleged failure in bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks and its ‘U-turns' on issues concerning farmers and rising unemployment.

Janata parivar's objective behind today's demonstration is to ‘expose' the BJP.  This is being seen as  the ‘first solid step' towards the merger of the six parties.
