New Delhi: BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav has denied media reports that the outgoing Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah held meeting with BJP leaders in Delhi this morning.

"News about BJP leaders meeting NC leadership in Delhi baseless," tweeted Ram Madhav.

Earlier, it was reported that Omar Abdullah met BJP president Amit Shah and Ram Madhav in New Delhi this morning and discussed the political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.

The report of Omar's meeting with Amit Shah became significant in view of the fact that the  BJP is reportedly seeking the support of his party NC for government formation in the state.

BJP wants the CM post and is willing to offer a cabinet bert to Omar in Modi government at the centre.

Omar Abdullah has publically said that he is open for an alliance with the BJP but has offered similar support to both PDP and Congress.

The state unit of BJP is said to be in favour of striking an alliance with NC.

Omar, who left for Srinagar after an overnight stay in Delhi, refused to be drawn into such speculation and said that he had come to the capital preparatory to departure to London on Saturday to meet his father Farooq Abdullah who has undergone a kidney transplant, and his mother, Molly who donated her kidney to her husband.

Asked about government formation after a hung verdict in the Assembly polls, Omar, who is working president of NC, said that his party's stand had been made clear when he had offered to support the rival PDP of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in this regard. That offer stood and it was for the PDP to take a call on it.

The PDP won 28, the BJP 25, the National Conference (NC) 15 and the Congress 12 seats in the 87-member state assembly.
