Chandigarh:  Haryana government will soon bring in a legislation to check incidents of cow slaughter, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today.  “Efforts will be made to bring a Bill in this regard in the next session of state Assembly,” the Chief Minister said after meeting people in Yamunanagar.

When asked about the problem of traffic congestion in the district, Khattar said that a ring road would be constructed for Yamunagar-Jagadhari.

In reply to another question, he said the BJP governmentin the state would fulfil all its promises made in the manifesto.

Asked when the state government would give pay scale to government employees at par with that of Punjab, Khattar said that the previous Congress-led government in the state had “dug many pits which need to be filled”.  “The first priority of the government is to improve the fiscal position of the state,” he added.

Meanwhile, at a meeting with senior officers of district administration at Yamunanagar last evening, Khattar directed the concerned officers to carry out a survey to explore the possibilities of tapping water of various rivers passing through district by constructing dam in the catchment areas so that it could be used for irrigation.

He also announced several projects for the residents of Yamunanagar district which include construction of a new road from Yamunanagar to village Khajuri, a government college for Sadhaura and Radaur, a new bus stand at Bilaspur, tehsil status to Khajirabad and construction of 33 KV sub station there.

A Rs five-crore assistance will also be given tor municipal corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhari for various development works up to March 31.

In addition, the CM announced that a timber market would also be established in Jagadhari.  According to Khattar, Yamunanagar district is rich in natural resources and has high industrial prospects. He assured the people that his government would leave no stone unturned to ensure development of this area.  The CM lamented that the area had fallen behind in terms of development “as previous governments did not pay the due attention to it”.
