Srinagar: In a major twist to the ‘political economics' in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) has claimed that it had offered ‘unconditional' support to Mehbooba Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to form a ‘stable' government in the state. However, the latter has denied it vehemently.

"The NC has verbally offered unconditional support. It is a fractured verdict this time and for the stability of the state and smooth functioning of the government, we are offering support to the single largest party," NC leader Devendra Rana Saiwas told to Times of India.

The latest move by the NC came soon after BJP's negotiations with PDP has emerged in the media.

PDP spokesperson Dr Sameer Koul talks confirmed the talks with the BJP. However, both the parties are yet to reach out to a formula for forming government in the state. PDP has reportedly submitted a list of five demands to BJP for formation of government in J&K.

The five demands are - respect for the self-rule proposal including softening of borders, revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from peaceful areas, strengthening of Article 370, full tenure for Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as CM and comprehensive package and relief for flood hit people of Kashmir including traders. The BJP is said to have rejected the proposal.

The PDP has emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats in 87-member House. BJP bagged 25 seats while the NC and Congress managed to get only 15 and 12 seats, respectively.
