New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sent notice to an NGO run by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for not submitting annual returns.

NGO Kabir, run by Sisodia, has not filed its annual return since 2009. In 2013, when the erstwhile Congress-led UPA II government was in power, it had opened an enquiry against AAP leader's NGO for diverting foreign funds for personal use.

“We found that Kabir has not filed its annual return, which is a mandatory procedure under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 2010,” an official said.

Besides Kabir, the MHA has also sent same notice to 699 other NGOs asking all of them to explain why the concerned authority should not annul their registration on grounds that they have not filed annual returns.

The list of NGOs also includes Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, an NGO of which Prome Minister Narendra Modi was the patron during his stint as the Gujarat Chief Minister.

As per the rules, associations registered under FCRA 2010 are required to submit annual report in Form FC-6, accompanied by an income and expenditure statement, receipt and payment account, balance sheet for every financial year.
