Patna: Amid growing disenchantment of some members of JD(U) with Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, RJD MP Rajiv Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav today said that Manjhi should not be disturbed till the Assembly polls as such a move would benefit BJP.

“Manjhi must not be disturbed till the Assembly polls,” Yadav told reporters a day after the state unit JD(U) spokesperson Niraj Kumar publicly disapproved of Manjhi visiting Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav's house for feast.  Observing that any move from within the party to destablise the chief minister will hurt the ruling party's electoral prospects in the Assembly polls and correspondingly benefit the opposition BJP, Yadav criticised Kumar for attacking Manjhi over his ‘political correctness' in visiting Sadhu's house.

He said that the propriety demanded that the matter should have been dealt with in a mature manner and within the party.

The RJD MP said that no political meaning should be derived from such engagement as the latter had also met the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi ahead of general elections last year.

He also advocated expediting merger process of the erstwhile Janata Parivar constituents by taking Manjhi into confidence saying that removing him from the chief minister's post after merger will hurt the anti-BJP political parties' electoral prospects at the hustings.
