New Delhi: It seems Congress party's woes in southern state of Tamil Nadu are far from over.

First, it was G K Vasan who decided to quit Congress and float a new party. Now, it's the turn of Karti Chidambaram, son of senior Congress leader and former union minister P Chidambaram, who has denounced “high-command observer culture”  prevalent in Congress.

Expressing his strong displeasure over excessive interference by the central leadership in the affairs of Tamil Nadu unit, Karti said that the state Congress can't wait for Delhi to show the path in every single way.

"The Tamil Nadu unit must have a fair amount of autonomy in functioning. We must re-think this high-command observer culture," Karti told a news channel.

Commenting on G K Vasan's decision to quit Congress, Karti told the channel "We must also look at the reasons why people have left the party. Some of it may be genuine grouses, but some is political experience. By forming a sub-regional political party, you become ideologically neutral. So you can go ahead and have alliances with anybody you want. I have a suspicion that this is the first step towards having an alliance with the BJP."

The Congress party, however, refused to react to Karti Chidambaram's statement.

“Who is Karti?” asked Mani Shankar Aiyar when asked to comment on Chidambaram junior's comments.
