Ranchi: In a clear show of laxity in preparing the duty chart for the upcoming assembly elections in the state, the Ranchi administration has entrusted critical responsibilities to such people who, themselves, are contesting the assembly elections either independently or on some political party ticket.

The latest case is from Hatia. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate from Hatia Assembly seat Dr Ashok Nag's name has figured in the election duty chart. The administration has given him responsibilities of a Magistrate on polling date.

It should be noted that Nag, ahead of filing his nomination papers, had submitted a no objection certificate (NOC), issued by the Ranchi University, to district administration for contesting the election.

Despite of submitting ample documents stating that he is contesting the assembly elections and hence his name should be excluded from the duty list, Nag received a letter from the district administration asking him to take the responsibly of Magistrate on the polling date.

This is not the first time when Nag has been asked to perform duty during elections. In the Lok Sabha polls this year, the administration had issued a letter to Nag directing him to perform duty. At that time he was an office bearer of All Jharkhand Students Indian Union (AJSU).

Nag recently quit AJSU to join JMM.

Meanwhile, the JMM candidate said that he will visit the district administration office on Friday urging officials to remove his name from the duty list.
