Patna, Jul 1: The JD(U) today asked the UPA and RJD to apologise to former President A P J Abdul Kalam for "pressurising" him to sign on dotted lines on a cabinet decision recommending dissolution of the state legislative assembly constituted after February 2005 assembly polls in Bihar.

Both the UPA government and the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad should apologise to Kalam for forcing him to sign on the centre's decision to dissolve the legislative assembly constituted after February 2005 assembly polls in the wake of fractured mandate given by electorate, JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar told reporters.

Referring to Kalam's memoirs titled 'Turning Point And Journey Through Challenges' during his five-year stint as the president of the country between 2002-2007, he said that it was a matter of concern that Kalam stood embarrassed following the Supreme Court's observations while setting aside dissolution of the state assembly constituted after 2005 assembly polls.

It was high time that the UPA government and Prasad should accept their mistakes and apologise to the former president, he said.
