New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former union minister, Jairam Ramesh, has said that former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao had embroiled his own party colleagues in court cases.

Delivering a lecture on 'PV in Perspective' in Hyderabad on Thursday, he said, "Though PV Narasimha Rao made everlasting contributions, his failure in Babri Masjid issue and his efforts to embroil his own party colleagues in court cases had alienated him in his own party and obscured his contributions."

The Congress leader also said that there is a need to 'know and understand a complex and multi-faceted personality like PV to make a correct judgment'.

While counting the former PM's contribution, he said that the Congress stalwart rewrote India's economic history by taking remarkably bold decisions during 90s.

"He had turned an unprecedented economic crisis into an opportunity. The reforms introduced by PV are being continued by successive Prime Minister shows his farsightedness," Ramesh noted.

Besides initiating economic reforms, look-east foreign policy and resumption of political processes in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Nagaland are the everlasting contributions of Narasimha Rao, Ramesh said.
