Jammu: 213 candidates are left in the fray for the fifth and the final phase of polling in 20 Assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir scheduled for December 20 after withdrawal of nominations.

Prominent among those who will contest the elections in the fifth phase are JK Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader Tara Chand, JK Cabinet minister Raman Bhalla, BJP MLA

Jagdish Raj Sapolia who has switched to Congress after being denied ticket and former Congress MP Lal Singh who has joined BJP.

An official of the Election Commission said that 12 candidates have withdrawn their nominations on the last day yesterday, leaving 213 candidates in the fray.  The 20 Assembly segments are spread in three district of Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua.

The official said that in Bani Assembly constituency 11 candidates remain in fray, in Basohli 12, Kathua 15, Billawar eight, Hiranagar eight, Nagrota 11, Gandhi Nagar 11, Jammu East nine, Jammu West 15, Bishnah 10, R S Pura 11, Suchetgarh 12, Marh nine, Raipur Domana 11, Akhnoor eight, Chhamb 10, Nowshera 11, Darhal 11, Rajouri 13, Kalakote seven.
