Patna: Senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh, who has  been inducted as a Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has often been in midst of controversy for his provocative statements. Talking to a news channel, Giriraj Singh, however, refuted the charge that he was communal and said that no true Indian can be so.

“I request media and people to understand that I am not communal and no Indian can be communal”, Giriraj Singh said.

During Lok Sabha election campaign, Giriraj Singh had made number of remarks that sparked row. On of them were that those who don't support Modi must be sent to Pakistan.

When asked to comment on the statement he replied, “I don't wish to dig out dead bodies from the grave. So I will not comment on this. All I know is that truth is truth and it will always prevail.”

Giriraj Singh is a popular leader in Bihar, hence his elevation to Modi's cabinet few months before Bihar goes to poll could have an impact. However to this, Singh said, “It will be Narendra Modi's vision and leadership that will have impact on Bihar politics.”

He did not miss the opportunity to pounce on his friend – turned – rival Nitish Kumar and said, “Nitish and Lalu have lost credibility in Bihar. Nitish for his own false ego broke alliance with the BJP and is now bowing before Lalu for fear of Narendra Modi. He betrayed the people of Bihar for the sake of power.”

Singh is a first-time MP from Nawada in Bihar. He faces criminal charges for allegedly delivering a hate speech and is out on bail.
