New Delhi: Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today met with the cadets of National Service Scheme (NSS) who participated in the Republic Day parade and exhorted them to passionately pursue their dreams as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama did.

Referring to what President Obama said during his radio address “Mann Ki Baat” with Prime Minister Modi which was aired recently, Javadekar said the common thing between the two leaders was hard work, passion and dedication which he described as the “guru mantra” for success in life.

“What US President Barack Obama said in ‘Mann Ki Baat' was that it was only because of democracy that an African child born to a single mother, who was not looked upon as equal in America, became the President of the United States... “...a chaiwala (tea seller) became the Prime Minister of India. This is empowerment of poor. The common between the two leaders are hard work, passion, mission mode and dedication.

This is the guru mantra for success in life in every field. Hope you all will follow them,” Javadekar told cadets who had come from Maharashtra and Goa.

The cadets also narrated their experience of Republic Day parade preparations and the gala event and also went around the new Paryavaran Bhawan to get to know about the environment friendly concept of the building.

In a 30-minute free-wheeling interaction, the Minister asked the children to pursue their dreams passionately and said that there is no shortcut to success.

“Follow your dreams with passion, dedication, discipline, tremendous zeal and hard work. There is no substitute to hard work and discipline in life. If you continue to move ahead with that zeal and discipline then success will be absolutely yours,” Javadekar said.
