New Delhi: The electricity bill of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Civil Lines residence was about Rs 1.25 lakh for the months of April and May.

The latest revelation was made in an RTI query filed by Vivek Garg, an advocate and RTI activist.

The General Administration Department of Delhi Government has furnished the copies of electricity bill of Kejriwal's Civil Lines residence running into Rs 1.25 lakh.

It also claimed that very heavy load has been sanctioned to the CM's house, where many ACs are installed.

It should be noted that Kejriwal, before shifting here, had asked to remove the ACs.

A government spokesperson, however, said that the government will verify the bill before speaking on the matter.

There was huge outcry during Sheila Dikshit's tenure when an RTI query revealed that she had 31 ACs in the 5,700-sq-ft Lutyens' bungalow, apart from 25 heaters, 15 desert coolers, 16 air purifiers and 12 geysers. The bill for running a one-tonne split AC at her bungalow for seven hours was Rs 900.

Two years back, in an act of defiance, Kejriwal had restored power supply to his residence which the authorities have disconnected for non-payment of bills.

Kejriwal had in past also restored power supply of a family in south Delhi claiming that authorities have disconnected it because the family could not pay the inflated bill of Rs 15,000.

Delhi government, however,  today issued a clarification on the controversy rubbishing these reports.

The Directorate of Information & Publicity, Government of NCT of Delhi, said It is hereby clarified that 6, Flag Staff Road, Civil Lines, Delhi was allotted as residence for Kejriwal and February 28 this year and a portion of the premises was allocated as the private residence of the Chief Minister and separate electricity connection was installed for the same.

It said that the Chief Minister shifted to this portion towards the end of March, 2015.  The expenses on this electricity connection are as under:-

1. March, 2015 1851 Units Rs.17000/- (including consumption on renovation/repair work)

2. April, 2015     914 Units  Rs.7370/-
3. May, 2015    2510 Units  Rs.22,690/-

It further said that the General Administration Department created some facilities for the Janta Samvad, Office work and other peripheral activities relating to function of Chief Minister's Office in the same premises.

Separate electricity connection was installed for this portion and the monthly consumption of electricity of this connection is as per details below:-

1. March, 2015  1650 Units -   Rs.15175/-
2. April, 2015     5047 Units – Rs. 48,630/-
3. May, 2015      Yet to be paid.
