Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Stalin has been caught on camera slapping a passenger inside Chennai metro.

The video of the incident, which took place on Wednesday, has now gone viral.

Stalin along with opposition leader Vijayakant (DMDK) took a ride in the metro on Wednesday.

Stalin was accompanied by his supporters including former Mayor M Subramaniam. They were travelling from Koyambedu to Alandur.

Confirming the news, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa said, "This news is available in the media. This is not the way an MLA should behave. I hope he will not behave like this in the future."

Reports say that Stalin had interacted with passengers who had sought reduction of the ticket costs.

However, Stalin denied Jayalalithaa's charge and termed it a conspiracy against him.

"The man was unintentionally stamping on a girl's feet. When I asked and gestured him to move, my hand hit his face. It was unintentional, and I didn't slap him. Why can't Jayalalithaa understand this?" he said.

The Alandur-Koyambedu sector, first phase of the Rs 14,600 crore Metro Rail project, was flagged off by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sunday.
