New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party may win 37 seats, one seat more than the magical mark of 36 in the 70-seat Delhi assembly, says the latest India TV-CVoter opinion poll conducted in the third week of this month.

The Aam Aadmi Party has been projected to take second position with 26 seats, two less since last time, says the opinion poll conducted among 2520 randomly selected respondents.

All these respondents were interviewed in the third week of January.

According to CVoter, the Total Tracking Poll CATI Sample Size in January is 6758 randomly selected respondents interviewed between Jan 1 and Jan 19, the margin of error being at plus/minus 3 per cent at state level, and plus/minus 5 percent at regional level.  

The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years at a stretch, will find its tally whittled down from eight last time to seven this time, with the 'Others' which include regional parties and independents, drawing a blank.

In the December 2013 assembly polls, BJP had won 31 seats, AAP 28, Congress 8 and Others 3.

In vote share projections, BJP is set to garner 43 pc votes, closely followed by AAP with 39 pc, Congress with 13 pc, and 'Others' 5 pc.

In the December 2013 assembly polls, BJP had got 33 pc votes, followed by AAP with 29 pc, Congress 25 pc and 'Others' 13 pc.

In the popularity stakes, 49 pc of the respondents described BJP leader Kiran Bedi as the most preferred candidate to become the next CM, with 42 pc opting for AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, 8 pc for Congress leader Ajay Maken.

Out of these respondents, 56 pc women and 46 pc men opted for Kiran Bedi as most preferred CM candidate, while 33 pc women and 44 pc men opted for Kejriwal as most preferred CM candidate.

Asked, who can work out the best solution for safety of women in Delhi, a whopping 68 pc favoured Bedi and 25 pc favoured Kejriwal. Out of them, 75 pc women and 65 pc men favoured Bedi, while only 19 pc women and 27 pc men favoured Kejriwal.

Asked who can work out the best solution to control corruption in Delhi, 49 pc preferred Bedi and 44 pc preferred Kejriwal. Out of them 57 pc women and 47 pc men preferred Bedi, while 39 pc women and 46 pc men preferred Kejriwal.

Asked who can work out the best solution for development in Delhi, 51 pc preferred Bedi, while 40 pc preferred Kejriwal. Out of them, 59 pc women and 48 pc men preferred Bedi, while 32 pc women and 42 pc men preferred Kejriwal.
