Bhupinder Singh Hooda showers sops on government employees ahead of assembly polls

Chandigarh: In poll-bound Haryana, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced sops for state government employees, which includes raising the retirement age from 58 to 60 years and 25 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA).


After presiding over a meeting with representatives of Haryana Karamchari Mahasangh and Sarv Karamchari Sangh here, Hooda tonight said after 58 years of service, an employee will be asked to give his option whether he wanted to continue his service till 60 years or seek retirement.  

“Now onwards full pension will be allowed on completion of 20 years of service instead of earlier 28 years of service.  This will be effective with prospective effect from the date of notification,”Hooda said, according to an official release.  

A decision was also taken to hike DA.

It was also decided at the meeting that if a person working on ad hoc, daily wage or contract basis, including those working on contract basis through a service provider, dies in harness, the family of the employee will be granted an ex-gratia of Rs 2.5 lakh.  

Hooda said that a commission will be constituted for addressing the “anomalies and deviations” which might have occurred in implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission.

It will grant an opportunity to employees' associations or individual employees to represent before the commission which will make appropriate recommendations to the state government for the removal of such anomalies and deviations.  

Apart from this, policies on regularisation of services of certain categories of employees, which have been recently formulated by the government, will be made applicable to similarly placed persons working in boards, corporations and autonomous bodies under the state government.  

At the meeting, it was also decided that an increase in the consolidated emoluments on a graded basis will be granted to the persons who are working for a long period of time in various departments but they could not be regularised in accordance with the policies recently formulated.  

Hooda said that his government had taken an in-principle decision to end the contract system. Some employees are facing problems on account of non-availability of confirmed posts.

In this direction, all temporary posts would be declared permanent posts.
