Mumbai: In a bid to bring Shiv Sena on board in Maharashtra, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat called up Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and advised him to let party MLAs join Devendra Fadnavis government.

Bhagwat, now playing the role of a troubleshooter for the BJP, has taken the initiative to bring the two estranged allies together after the Sena made it clear that it will play the role of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. The party has said that it will corner the Fadnavis government in the upcoming Winter Session of the State Assembly.

Sources said that Bhagwat has spoken to Uddhav over phone several times in the last 15 days and asked him to join the BJP government.

Reports also indicated that Bhagwat may meet Uddhav today.

The ‘minority' BJP government, which has 122 MLAs in 288-member House, had on November 12 managed to prove majority on the floor of the House through voice vote with support of Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Part (NCP)'s 41 legislatures.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister in Nagpur once again made it clear that the doors of the BJP are open for talks with the Sena.

Both the Sena and BJP parted their ways just ahead of the assembly elections following differences over seat sharing formula.

There are also reports that Fadnavis will be expanding his Cabinet by month-end.
