New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today ordered two separate magisterial inquiries into a violent clash at Burari in which two AAP MLAs were among those booked and an alleged gang-rape of an African woman in a moving car in East Delhi.

The incident of violence had taken place at Burari last night and it has been alleged that the police did not register a case against those involved in allegedly molesting two kids.

The Delhi Government said aggrieved by the police inaction, a large number of local people approached Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha and Model Town legislator Akhilesh Tripathi and both along with the locals had gone to Burari police station to get an FIR registered against the alleged criminals.

“It has been alleged that a police official pointed a rifle towards an elected MLA and it has also been alleged that some local people pelted stones on the police personnel,” said a government release.

It said Delhi government treats safety of children as an important issues and was committed to put an end to such shameful incidents.

“It has been decided to institute a magisterial inquiry under the District Magistrate (North Delhi) to inquire about the circumstances and causes that led to this incident and to fix responsibility of government officials, agencies and elected representatives, any of whom may have acted against the law,” it said.

The probe was announced as the BJP attacked Kejriwal asking him to explain his stand on the conduct of his party MLAs who were involved in hooliganism and said the incident reflected the arrogance of Aam Aadmi Party.

The chief minister has also directed the Home department to immediately institute a thorough inquiry into the alleged gang-rape of an African national in a moving car in the early hours of yesterday in East Delhi.

A Nigerian woman was allegedly gangraped by four men in a moving car here after they offered her a lift home from south Delhi's Saket area last night. All the four accused, who are residents of Mayur Vihar, have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape.

The decision by the AAP government comes a week after it came to power.
