New Delhi: Narendra Modi government has green signalled additional employment of 50 days under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(MNREGA) in drought hit areas of the country. This would in addition to the already allocated 100 days per household under the plan.

Speaking to media, Prasad said Cabinet has approved additional employment of 50 days over and above 100 days per household under MGNREGA in drought hit areas.

While stressing that the government has taken many steps to deal with droughts across nation, Prasad said that states should prepare Integrated Cluster Action Plans regarding the same.

Prasad also said “Cabinet approved Shyama Prasad Mukherjee RURBAN Mission, Rs 52K crore programme aiming to provide urban facilities in rural areas.”

Prasad also termed Congress' protest over removal of Indira Gandhi and rajiv Gandhi Stamps as unnecessary. He said, “We hold view that nation should commemorate all leaders. Does Cong not deem Rajendra Prasad or Bose worthy of commemoration?”

“Stamps are definitive or commemorative. Indira Gandhi commemorative stamps came 4 times, Rajiv Gandhi's twice, JLNehru for 8 times,” he added.
