New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah today said that the government has not enough mandate to address core issues including  construction of  Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

"We have not got enough mandate to address the core issues. We need 370 seats according to the Constitution to address them," he said in New Delhi.

Shah was replying to a question as to why the BJP, which alone had majority in the Lok Sabha, was not addressing the party's core issues.

On the eve of the first anniversary of the Modi government, the RSS and VHP pushed for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya, asking the BJP to fulfil its Lok Sabha poll promise in this regard.

The erstwhile NDA government-led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee had given excuse that the party did enjoy majority in the Lok Sabha and hence it was difficult to take forward its agenda.

Amit Shah addressed the media at party headquarters in capital before heading to Karnal in Haryana to address a rally to mark NDA government's one year in office.
