The Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has said that it has issued the required directives to district officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply to villages in the state.

Addressing a press briefing in the state capital today, Power minister Shrikant Sharma told reporters that villages across the state will get non-stop supply of power from 7 pm to 5 am.

“From 7 pm to 5 am, nonstop power will be provided in all villages,” he said, adding that the faults will be resolved at the earliest.

The decision follows the UP government’s decision in this regard at the second cabinet meeting chaired by CM Adityanath earlier this month. The government had ordered 18-hour power supply in villages and 24 hours in district headquarters of the state.

Sharma, who is also the government’s spokesperson, further said that the government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption.

At a meeting with senior ministers here today, CM Adityanath ordered that strict action should be initiated against officials if found indulged in making money through illegal means.

“Action will be taken against officials if complaints are received. Officers will not be spared… only warnings will not work, they will be put behind the bars. Zero tolerance against corruption,” Sharma told reporters.

Sharma further informed that all ministers have been asked to come out with a white paper on works being done so far.

The government, he said, is working on 100 days agenda and that a report card will be issued after 100 days.

“All ministers have been asked to come out with a white paper of their departments. Besides, they have been asked to visit the districts too assess the works. There are several schemes of the Centre that are not implemented outside Lucnow. All schemes will be implemented soon to benefit the poor,” he said.

“Also district officials have been ordered to take stock of the ground situation and inform the government about implementation of development schemes,” he added.

Assessments of centres set up by the government for procurement of wheat and potato will also be done on regular basis, he informed.

Sharma said that the government has taken concrete measures to provide drinking water facility to the people across the state.

“In all districts, drinking water be made available to all. Strengthening law and order situation is another challenge… improvement in basic education system is also on the agenda of the government,” he said.
