New Delhi: Even as her Lok Sabha constituency Mathura witnessed 24 deaths in last 24 hours, but that does not seem to have deterred BJP MP Hema Malini from tweeting pictures of her shooting for a film and "hoping for its early release".

There are reasons why the MP's act is demeaning to say the least. What has happened in Mathura is not a petty crime of the likes of theft or burglary. The city SP of her constituency has been killed while the BJP lawmaker was on a shooting spree. Either she was unaware of the development -- even though Mathura is in the news since last night -- or she deliberately chose to be indifferent to the people she represents. That, in many ways, adds insult to injury.

In a series of images the 67-year-old veteran actor posted on Twitter, she could be seen in a maroon sari and salwar-kurta, posing for the camera and gushing about how convenient it has become to reach Madh Island from mainland Mumbai by motorised boats.

"Hoping for an early release of this film," she captioned one of the photos, without revealing the name of the film."

Although she quickly realised her mistake and deleted the tweets, Malini was slammed on social media for her indifference towards her constituency which is burning since Thursday night.

She later posted her condolence message on Twitter.

"I just came bk frm Mathura & got the news of the violence tht has taken place there in which policemen have lost their lives." she said in a tweet.

"So so upset by ths news frm a place which is so dear to me, Will go there again if my presence is required. My heart goes out to the bereaved," she said in another tweet.

24 people including two cops have died after police in Mathura tried to evict around 2500 encroachers from a park here.

Superintendent of Police (City) Mathura Mukul Dwivedi and Station Officer of Farah Police station Santosh Yadav were martyred in the incident.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today called UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and assured all help from Centre.
