Amid their hectic work schedule in the highly-active Prime Minister Narendra Modi Cabinet, two ministers part of it have somehow managed some time to devote to their fitness regime.
The proof came in Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju’s Twitter post on Wednesday. The 37-second video post shows former Olympic silver medallist and Minister of State For Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore hitting the gym.
In the video, Rathore can be seen doing a series of push-ups on an exercise ball as “Eye of the Tiger” – the theme song from the classic film Rocky – resounds in the background.
“While doing duty we've no time for physical fitness. But my Olympian colleague...gives me a tough challenge,” read the caption by Rijiju accompanying the video.
In response, Rathore wrote: “Ha ha ha...despite your hectic schedule, you are beyond competition and an inspiration.”
Sports Minister Vijay Goel, also joined in, praising Rajyavardhan Rathore and calling him India’s “very own Rocky Balboa”.
On Thursday, Rijiju posted a short 27-second clip on Twitter wherein he can be seen doing leg raise kicks with Bollywood music playing in the background.
“Young friends, stay away frm drugs, be fit. Let's build @narendramodi ji's #NewIndia dream. I took out 30 mins frm work 2 respond @Ra_THORe (sic),” he captioned the video.
Responding to the videos tweeted by Rijiju, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, “Getting intimidated by the huge commitment of @Ra_THORe & @KirenRijiju for fitness&rigorous regime they follow.Wish 1 could do bit like them”.
To Prabhu’s tweet, Rathore replied, “Sir @sureshpprabhu ji, we are happy and proud that YOU are keeping @RailMinIndia fit which is tougher anyday :) #IAmNewIndia”.
