Expelled Congress leader Barkha Singh today stepped up her attack on party vice-president Rahul Gandhi calling him an ‘intellectually bankrupt man’.

In a press statement issued here, Singh, who was expelled from the party for six years for indulging in anti-party activities, called on all ‘like-minded Congress leaders and workers to contribute towards nation building by giving a strong opposition’.

Lashing out at Rahul, she said, “He doesn’t know difference between Ram and Rahim.”

Singh, who had complained against neglect of women workers in ticket distribution for the MCD polls, said that Congress has failed to play the role of a credible opposition under the leadership of Rahul.

“Congress has not been able to play the role of a strong opposition owing to the mental and political incapacity of Rahul Gandhi,” the statement reads.

“There is no dearth of talent in the Congress party and let’s not ridicule ourselves any further by rallying around a brainless man. We have enough seasoned and experienced leaders who are fit to run the party, we must rise up to this occasion and give our democracy the strong opposition it deserves,” it added.

She further said that Rahul needs to be taught the history of Indian National Congress.

Accusing him of not allowing others to express their views, she said, “Rahul Gandhi needs to learn that the party is not of a family run private limited company but a political party registered under Representation of Peoples Act 1951 with the sole purpose if representing the dreams, interests and aspirations of the people of this country.”

On her expulsion, she said, “Rahul Gandhi has yet again proved to the people of our great nation that he considers the Congress party to be his family run fiefdom.”

“I don’t know how does voicing opinion about Rahul Gandhi amount to anti-party activities? I have not said anything against the Congress party. Is Rahul Gandhi trying to say that Congress is Gandhi family and Gandhi family is Congress?” she questioned.

Earlier in the day, Singh was expelled from the party for six years, a day after she attacked Rahul and Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken.

The disciplinary committee of Congress' Delhi unit removed her for indulging in ‘anti-party activities’ days ahead of the Delhi municipal polls, where the party is hoping for a revival of fortunes after the 2015 Assembly poll debacle.
