New Delhi: The Bachchan family was known to be close to former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh. But their relationship soured a few years ago for reasons still unknown.

Singh had earlier expressed his hurt over falling out with the Bachchans, but didn't openly attack them. But this time, Singh has spoken his mind.

Speaking about his relations with Amitabh Bachchan, Singh said he had differences with Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh had ‘apologised’ to him.

In 2011, Singh had accused the Bachchan family of betraying him in the time of need. The friendship came to an end when Singh was thrown out of the Samajwadi Party over cash-for-votes scam and he openly challenging them to win an election on their own.

Jaya Bachchan is a member of the Rajya Sabha and represents Samajwadi Party. Singh feels that Jaya wants to remain a Rajya Sabha member because she thinks it gives her an identity.

It may be recalled that till a few years back, Singh had recommended Amitabh Bachchan to Mulayam Singh for making him Brand Ambassador of Uttar Pradesh. Also, he had lobbied for the nomination of Amitabh's wife for the membership of the Upper House.

Meanwhile, Singh further heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi terming him as an “honest” person but said that his good initiatives go in vain due to “controversial statements” made by some BJP leaders.

“Modi is an honest person. But people of the country are upset with him as they had lot of expectations from him which have not been not met. His brother is a clerk and mother lives in a small house. Opposition could only find Rs 10 lakh suit issue against him,” Singh said.

He also blamed BJP leaders for issuing controversial statements saying because of this Modi’s good initiatives are going in vain.

“His good initiatives go in vain due to his men who issue different statements. He has not only got votes of Hindus but also Muslims,” Singh said.
